Troubleshooting ExpressLRS Receiver Binding Issues

Question: Why won’t my ExpressLRS receiver bind to the transmitter?

Answer: First, ensure both your transmitter and receiver are running compatible ExpressLRS firmware versions. Mismatched versions often cause binding failures. Next, power on the receiver and enter bind mode—usually by holding the bind button while powering up or using a specific bind pin. Confirm the receiver’s LED indicates it’s in bind mode (typically a flashing light). On the transmitter, enter the binding menu and start the bind process. Keep both devices close together, within 1 metre, to ensure a strong signal during binding. If binding still fails, double-check antenna connections on both units—loose or damaged antennas can prevent binding. Also, verify your receiver is correctly powered, usually 5V or 3.3V depending on model. Finally, if you’re using a UART for the receiver, confirm the serial port settings and wiring are correct. Following these steps should resolve most binding issues with ExpressLRS receivers.
