Question: Why does my FPV video break up when I bank the wing?
Answer: Video break-up during banking is usually caused by changes in antenna orientation or signal obstruction. When you bank your wing, the FPV antenna’s position relative to the receiver’s antenna changes, which can reduce signal strength. To improve this, first ensure your transmitter and receiver antennas are correctly installed—usually perpendicular to each other for best signal diversity. Use circularly polarised antennas on both ends, as they handle orientation changes better than linear ones. Also, check that no parts of the wing or servos block the antenna line-of-sight during turns. If your setup allows, try adding a second receiver antenna positioned to cover different angles, using a diversity receiver to switch between signals. Finally, test your video link at different distances and angles to identify weak spots. Adjusting antenna placement and ensuring clear line-of-sight often resolves break-up issues during banking manoeuvres.
