Question: Why does my FPV video break up when I bank the wing?
Answer: Video break-up during banking is usually caused by the camera or video transmitter losing line of sight with the receiver, or by antenna orientation issues. When you bank your wing, the antenna may be obstructed by parts of the aircraft, causing signal blockage or multipath interference. To fix this, first check your antenna placement: ensure the video transmitter antenna is mounted high and away from carbon fibre or metal parts that block signals. Use circular polarised antennas on both the transmitter and receiver to improve signal stability during manoeuvres. Also, verify that your antennas are in good condition with no damage. If possible, try repositioning the receiver antenna on your goggles or ground station to maintain clear line of sight. Finally, consider increasing your transmitter power within legal limits or switching to a lower frequency band (e.g., 5.8 GHz to 2.4 GHz) for better penetration. Testing these steps should reduce video break-up when banking your wing.
